BOB the dog, aka Black Bob of Bloomfield Hills took a one way trip to the vet this past weekend. He fucked up my knees by making me wipe out on ice when he was a puppy, scratched my legs when he though it'd be a good idea to swim up next to me in the water and often tested my patience by barking at nothing just as my sister's kids were falling asleep, but I'm gonna miss the rascal.

So there's this laaaaaaame metatalk (yarly) thread centered around the blog Stuff White People Like. I'm still scratching my head because I just don't get why people are so upset about the blog and how the fuck they can call it racist with a straight face. It's pretty clearly stated that "white people"=privileged hiptards who majored in comp lit at their small liberal arts college. Those are my people, damn it, and I find that blog hilarious. This afternoon as we stumbled from Isaac's co-op (which nearly always has the aroma of weed wafting about), past the biodiesel place, past the store with vintage clothes, past the signs for a Smiths only 80's music night, and over to the local organic vegan restaurant for brunch (you don't want to see us before we've had our coffee!) where a hipster couple wandered out (NY Times paper in hand) past the two fixed gear bikes parked outside. As we were eating, we ran into two of Isaac's housemates who were off to the farmer's market to score some fresh produce. Like Homer J Simpsons says, it's funny because it's true.

I dropped out of Brownies when I found out that I missed the coolest thing ever to happen on the bus--our driver took out a chunk from the corner of school. I felt like I had really been deprived of experiencing something special. To this day, a big flashing light remains on that corner of the school. Anyway, here are some badges to make up for my lack of girl scout ones. I stole the idea from duck_n_penguin.

The “talking science” badge.

At parties people love to ask me all the ways the air we breathe, the food we eat and water we drink is gonna kill us. See this New Yorker cartoon for further proof.

The “MacGyver” badge.

Don't ask me what, but I'm sure I rigged a few things in my lab rat days. Perhaps something involving a vacuum pump.

The “arts and crafts” badge.

Surely making pickles with KCl to see if they glowed purple when you sent electrical currents through them counts. They glowed yellow, just like the NaCl ones, so there you go. Using pipette tips to put my hair in a bun also counts, right?
